About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To complete my nurse training and see the world!

ABOUT ME

Please ignore the "last login" bit, it always says Northampton but I can assure you I'm in Cambridgeshire!

Phrases that describe me best? Genuine, polite, down-to-earth, compassionate, geeky, always up for deep conversations, guided by a genuine desire to make the world a better place, somewhat reserved but not shy, interested in other peoples stories, likes chatting politics/theology/video games/travel stories over a pint, thinks far too much about what to put in personal descriptions! :P

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a Godless left-wing sinner who loves Charles Darwin and Richard Dawkins and one day aspires to be slow-roasted in a burning lake. But my goodness, I don't half taste nice with roast potatoes and peppercorn sauce! :P

Haha, no really, I'm a liberal-minded social-democrat who believes that we should strive to improve the lives of all decent hardworking people and a passionate atheist who firmly believes in the separation of church and state. As Superintendent Chalmers once put it "God has no place within these walls, just as facts have no place in organised religion!"

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

- Doing aid work in Namibia and Mexico with World Challenge Expeditions, helping those people out and seeing different cultures really helped mould me as an individual.
- Travelling some of Europe made me realise just how much adventure there is to be had out there in this big beautiful world of ours!
- My job! I worked as a healthcare assistant in an A & E department which changed my life for the better, it led me into nursing, a career where I try to make a positive impact on people's lives on a daily basis.

Teach, Learn, Share

Everyone should know what to do if they find someone who isn't breathing. Remember:

DRS ABC

DANGER (check for it)
RESPONSE (try to get one from the patient)
SHOUT (for help)
AIRWAY (check it is unobstructed, then perform head-tilt, chin-lift)
BREATHING (check for sound, sight & feel of breath, dial 999 if there is none/you are unsure)
CIRCULATION (if the patient is not breathing and once the emergency services have been made aware perform 2 breaths into their mouth followed by 30 chest compressions, then 2 breaths, 30 compressions etc. Repeat until the ambulance arrives)

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Czech Republic, Germany, Greece, Mexico, Namibia, New Zealand, Norway, United States
