About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see as much of the world as I possibly can. The time to do it is now!

ABOUT ME

I'm a fairly outgoing guy. I love European history, basketball, music, good wine and beer, traveling and meeting people from different countries.

PHILOSOPHY

A lot of people would like to make certain days or times of the day go faster, i.e. the last three hours of the work day or maybe the winter months. I, on the other hand, feel life is simply too good to speed up. I try to enjoy every moment, even the cold ones.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I want to host as often as I surf. Most importantly, I'd like to exchange ideas and thoughts with my European peers in order to improve our overall understanding of each other.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have not yet had an authentic couch surfing experience. I hope that changes!

Interests

I'm interested in many, many things.

  • wine
  • beer

  • history

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite films include the three original "Indiana Jones" films, "Fight Club", "Dazed and Confused", "Rear Window", "Stalag 17", "The Count of Monte Cristo" and "The Usual Suspects." Music: I love almost anything by Tchaikovsky and Stravinskii. As far as contemporary music, I like Nirvana, Cake, Wilco, The Black Crowes and Beck. I also enjoy the blues. Favorite books? The Three Musketeers, Gettysburg, The Name of the Rose, The Stranger and The Immoralist.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hosting my mom and sister in France as it was their first time in Europe. Being with them and sharing their excitement was easily one of the most amazing things I've had the privilege of doing. More directly, spending nearly one year in Europe has easily been the best thing I've done with my life thus far.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always struck by the expression "universal experience" or when someone says, "that just shows the universality of the human experience." I agree with the idea that at certain points in life, we have moments of genuine empathy. I think the excitement of seeing life through the eyes of another would be enhanced if we took more time to open up and reveal our innermost thoughts with others despite our instinct to withhold them. I would like to learn more about others through couch surfing, try to see what life looks like through their eyes.
