About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Traveling cross-country telling video stories online

ABOUT ME

My friend Julie and I are traveling cross-country in a 23-year-old Toyota camper telling video stories of people whose lives have been affected by the economic downturn.
We post our 3-to-5 minute stories online at TheHardestYear.com.
It always comes up, so, for the record, we're not a couple :)
We're financing the trip ourselves, so while we sometimes stay in paid campgrounds, more often we can be found camped out at the local Super Wal-Mart parking lot.
It gets a little loud at Wal-Mart sometimes, so a night in a quiet spot would be wonderful. A couch would be great, but all we really need is a nice level spot to park our camper.
We've met some wonderful people so far and we're just getting started on our journey.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We're spending CS karma at the moment, but we'll pay it back in the form of publicity as we include on our website stories about our experiences on the road.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

It's been a while since I hosted a CouchSurfer. I haven't recently lived anywhere people actually wanted to come! Years ago, even before the CouchSurfing database disaster, I hosted a few people in my Washington, DC studio apartment. It was a tight squeeze, but well worth it!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacking around the world was the most amazing thing I've ever done, but that was about six years ago.
On this trip, we've already met some fascinating people. We can tell you all about them!
