I was born in and grew up in South Dakota. I'm currently studying at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey, and this is my first time abroad. I'm definitely looking to do as much traveling as possible while I can.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I figure there are other people like me willing to let me hang out and get to know the city that they're from. Couchsurfing seems like the best way to experience a city as the locals do rather than as just a tourist, so naturally this seems like the best way to travel!
I enjoy exercising, exploring, hiking, reading, chess, documentaries, and listening to podcasts. I have a number of podcasts I listen to regularly, but favorites are Tangentially Speaking, the Joe Rogan Experience, & Dan Carlin's Hardcore History. All three pry open my mind & force thinking in unique ways. I also love select video games, mainly RPG's: Skyrim, Dragon Age, Fallout, etc. I'm a bit of a nerd. What else? ...I very much enjoy writing and reading. Anything: classic novels, contemporary nonfiction. And history fascinates me as well, especially pre-agricultural hunter-gatherer societies.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Leave everything behind for four months and fly out to Istanbul! Studying abroad has by far been the most interesting and daring thing I've done by myself yet. I hope to have many dozens of stories topple this one in amazingness, but this will have to do for now. Maybe a visit to your city could be the new most amazing thing?
What I Can Share with Hosts
I'm a pretty laid-back guy, I won't ask for much, and I'm polite. I don't need much, just a place to sleep and a friendly host! I can share what little knowledge of the world I have, some humor, and a hearty sense of companionship!
