About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To travel the coutnry in search of the best artisanal food.
ABOUT ME
This summer my colleague Chris and I are travelling 15,000 miles creating a documentary on artisanal food production in America. Its our goal to spotlight the craftsmen and women making this food movement possible. You can find out more on our website www.tocurefood.com
More about me: Born and raised in Indianapolis IN, I am a world traveler but a midwesterner at heart (empirically derived fact: people from the midwest are nicer than those from elsewhere). I studied History at a small liberal arts college in Indiana and I am currently completing a masters degree in Food Studies at Boston University. In the meanwhile have also taken a post behind one of the most famous cheese counters in the country and I have the unenviable task of being frequently required to taste our many hundreds of cheeses to ensure they are in good "condition". In total I have spent the better part of a year living in Italy whether it be through collegiate study abroad or through many months spent WWOOF'ing.
PHILOSOPHY
Think about things critically! But do not forget to feel.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Am willing and able to host surfers. Have not yet, but would like to surf myself in the future. I'm new to the site, but it seems like its home to some pretty interesting people. I run into far too few of y'all. Give me a holler.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Never officially couch surfed, but I WWOOF'ed for an extended period of time, which in essence is the same thing. Both are great for meeting really interesting people.
Interests
I love live acoustic music, craft beer, basset hounds, traveling, getting my hands dirty, and all things Italian.

Music, Movies, and Books
I'll restrain myself and pick just one from each: Good Will Hunting; The Avett Brothers; and St. Augustine's Confessions.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Sitting with friends in the Sicilian countryside beneath stars so big and bright it seemed they could be touched. I can't be sure, but perhaps they were.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'll quote one of my favorite authors on this one. "“He had learned some of the things that every man must find out for himself, and he had found out about them as one has to find out--through error and through trial, through fantasy and illusion, through falsehood and his own damn foolishness, through being mistaken and wrong and an idiot and egotistical and aspiring and hopeful and believing and confused. Each thing he learned was so simple and obvious, once he grasped it, that he wondered why he had not always known it." Thomas Wolfe
