I am married with 3 small children. I backpacked through Europe twice when I was in college and studied Arabic in Irbid, Jordan during my final semester of undergrad. After graduating, I got married and my wife and I moved to Thailand to teach English. After a six month stint there, we taught english at a primary school for one year and then a University for the next in Northern Iraq in the Kurdistan region. After few years of living over seas we decided to return to the U.S. to start a family while working and chipping away at a master's degree.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I studied cultural anthropology as an undergrad student. I have always loved learning about new cultures and how people do things. While it was not on this couchsurfing website, I did spend a lot of time being hosted in random houses throughout the Middle East and Europe and build solid friendships as a result. I've decided to hop on couchsurfing, as a way to still stay connected to that type of lifestyle when I travel.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music- I'll listen to anything except metal. I don't listen to much country these days, but when I do- it always reminds me of home.

Movies- I'll watch movies but not that often.

Books - These days it's almost always an academic book.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I helped start a refuge program in northern Iraq that went on to receive over a million dollars in funding. It still continues to this day.
