ABOUT ME

I'm a musician, 500 hr certified yoga instructor, and I studied/taught/traveled in China. This past year I have been fortunate enough to be playing music more often than not. I play woodwinds (saxophone, flute, clarinet, oboe) mostly for musical theater.

I love any kind of performance....and that can be a wide variety of things even if it isn't intended as such. Anything that makes me stop and be still and when I see that happen to other people.

I rarely make it to the end of a movie....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I remember being in Toronto and a Sikh New Year festival was taking place. There I was....a kid from Texas with college friends from all over the US, in Canada surrounded by tons of the most welcoming and friendly Canadian immigrants who insisted we join them and eat their food.

Another somewhat profound moment was in China. My Mandarin speaking and comprehension skills were not great, but I could get in a cab and order food. The first time I heard and understood a shop employee "man zou" on my way out the door I was so confused. I completely understood the literal meaning that she said "walk slowly." As I left in slight confusion and frustration of how I was going to get back to a subway that could get me back to my place it stuck with me that we can walk slowly and soak it in.
