About Me

I am retired and traveling with my husband. Asia has been our 'second home' (currently our only home) for many years and although we are not resident anywhere, we use Thailand and Malaysia as a base and travel from there to Indonesia, Cambodia, Laos, China, India, Nepal....wherever we feel like going.
We are simple backpackers at heart, honest and easygoing; we love meeting new friends, enjoy a pint or a glass of wine and telling tall tales!

Something will turn up!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've only just begun (as the song goes) so I'm only following a few threads and looking at other people's info.

None at all so far but hopefully one day soon.

Number 1 is travel but also reading, music, hiking and wildlife. Wherever I am I spend some time learning the local language - very rewarding even if it is just 'hallo, how are you'!

Music, Movies, and Books

Really enjoying Game of Thrones - books and series.
Being abroad all the time I don't keep up with books and movies but I like thrillers, crime, scifi, fantasy. One of the few books I've read more than once - Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy - excellent!
Last film was 3:10 to Yuma - perhaps the 1956 original was better?
Like most music, blues, rock and roll, even a limited amount of rap....can't do hiphop, garage or jazz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Trip through the Suez Canal on a container ship. The ship was nearly as wide as the canal and looking down from the sixth floor flying bridge, could only see land.
Walking in the Himalayas.
Travel in China.
Trip from Nepal to Tibet

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm not sure if I could teach anyone anything - unless it's about the practicalities of overland travel but I think I can learn something from anyone.
