About me.. I always find it hard to describe either myself or another person in words. But I will give it a try anyway. I am Josephine, 22 year old Dutch girl who loves to cook delicious food, eat delicious food, swim in the sea, read a beautiful books on the beach (or anywhere else gorgeous), cycling around (since i'm from the Netherlands) and make good and strong coffee. I have finished my bachelor degree in Film and Television at the University of Utrecht. I have lived in Utrecht for 3.5 years and when I graduated I went to Leeds (England) to live with my boyfriend and save money. I worked at a really nice coffee shop (not the one where they sell the green herb but actual coffee). My boyfriend and I both saved up to travel the world together. We are now in South America and we are planning to go to Australia and New Zealand in 2 months.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am on couchsurfing because I am interested in meeting new people (as probably everybody else writes down..). I enjoy the idea of staying with someone who knows the country and can share their experiences. I also like to learn languages and this seems like a great way to practice.

I am also keen on offering these things to people who would like to visit my country, but as I am travelling for a while it might be a while until I have a nice home to invite people to.

Interests

How to start without sounding like a broken record. Aside from the usual things that everybody writes down like watching films, travelling, socializing and literature. I like the smell of freshly washed laundry, pastries, coconut ice cream, trying new foods, sushi, the sun, the beach, winter, christmas (and everything that comes with that), Belgium beers, Scottish whiskey, Irish whiskey, French wine, Chilean wine, English tea. So far it looks like I am mainly interested in food and drinks, which is mostly true. I also like people and dogs, in depth conversations with either.

Music, Movies, and Books

Everything about this depends on the mood I am in but I can always, and I mean always, watch a Disney film. There is a Disney film for every mood.

I also like horror films, the really scary ones. Which sounds a bit of a contradiction with the Disney films but this is what I mean when I say it depends on the mood I am in.

I love reading books that tell a detailed story about peoples lives. This can be fiction or nonfiction but I do not like books about space and aliens. Italian and Spanish writers are great in writing beautiful stories about normal people in difficult situations (Mario Vargas Llosa, Nicolo Ammaniti for example).

I listen to all kinds of music, again, depending on the mood I am in.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was 11, I went to Africa with my dad. It was an amazing experience but also a bit scary for a 11 year old. One of the amazing things we did was go on a trek to see gorillas in the wild. At the time, gorillas were my favorite animal so for me it was like going to see a celebrity.
