Hey everyone. I'm Josh, 25 and from Australia. Just finished a semester abroad studying in Canada. I study Urban Planning back in Adelaide and moving to Canada was one of the most amazing things I’ve done. During the semester I went on a road trip from Calgary to Vancouver and then spent the Xmas/NYE period snowboarding in Mont Tremblant and exploring Montreal and Quebec City.

I first got into couch surfing in 2015 after working at a summer camp in Pennsylvania. I travelled around the US and Mexico and met some great people.

In my spare time I love to watch sports, hang out with my mates and play with my pets :) my favourite sports to watch are American football, basketball and soccer. I also play soccer and touch rugby back home and also surf whenever the waves are good enough. Snowboarding is probably my favourite thing in the world but living in Adelaide limits the chances I get to do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Too meet new people and learn about new cultures. I couch surfed in Columbus Ohio for the first time with 2 friends and it was amazing. Obviously each experience will be different but this guy went out of his way to make us feel at home and experience his amazing city. I love the idea of feeling at home while travelling and its something I'd like to continue. Hopefully I can make some new friends and possibly a few local dishes I can cook.

Music, Movies, and Books

Mostly prefer listening to Hip Hop, EDM and rock music. Open to most genres although I can't really get into country or Heavy metal. Favourite artists include Kendrick Lamar, Kanye West, J Cole, Arctic Monkeys, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Pearl Jam.

Really enjoy going to the movies, especially on the cheap days. Nothing rustles my jimmies more than having to pay $30 to see a latest film and a large soda. My favourite films include Good Will Hunting, Almost Famous, Heat, Chinatown, Goodfellas, the Godfather, Wolf of Wall Street, the Departed and all the Batman movies.

Mostly read biographies of famous athletes and artists. The Motley Crüe, Anthony Kiedes, Michael Jordan and Slash ones come to mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Surfing in shark infested waters at sunrise was one of the more amazing things I've done. The waves were huge and apart from from my mates, there was no one else around. It was so peaceful apart from the threat of being eaten by a shark but thankfully we made it out in one piece.
