About Me

I'm an artist, a performer, and a dancer. I have many interests and views, but overall I really like to learn. We are always learning and the moment we feel we have nothing else to learn we level off. I have aspirations and dreams just like other people but sometimes I try to reach higher than I can. However, it's because of this that I've been blessed with so many opportunities and experiences that others don't get a chance to experience in their lives. I enjoy people and learning from their lives and experiences. I like to go out for coffee on a cold winter day shopping with friends because it's not about the shopping. I am fun, energetic, outgoing, and down to earth. I don't like to describe me as much as I like to let people see me for me. I love art and music. I would say this is my life, but I feel the impulse that comes from art and music is my job and I get to live it everyday in my body. Dance would be my life, but there is so much more to life than just dance.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love to travel and meet new people. Everyone has a story, something that drives them, and things that they love. I've been told I'm a kind, empathetic, and understanding person, but I like to think of it as experiential. People live and learn through their experiences and I feel couch surfing not only helps to expand my network as an artist and dancer, but it also allows me to live and be a part of new experiences.

Important Note: I just recently graduated and I am currently working on finding a job and moving out of my parents house which is why couch surfing right now is super important for me as an artist looking for a job. As such, I sadly cannot offer any couch surfers a place to visit for now, but once I move out (which should be within the next few months or a year), I would love to be able to host people.

Interests

Dance (all kinds), Music, Movies, Coffee (big interest), Drinks (liquor, beer, wine), Yoga, Pilates, Books, Friends, Travelling, Food (because let's be honest, who doesn't like good food?), Martial Arts, Playing Instruments (piano, guitar, drums, singing), Video Games (playstation over xbox anyday, but I can play it all), Board Games (interesting and obscure games as well as chess and go), and so much else!

Music, Movies, and Books

*Disclaimer: For each of these, honestly I enjoy music, movies, and books that are good. I mean it doesn't have to be a specific genre (even though there are genres I lean towards) but it has to be artistically interesting and do what it is supposed to do. This means either suspending my disbelief, being swept away by the flow or beat, or even allow me to experience something real to me through words and art. None of these are in a particular order, just a list.*

Music: African and tribal music (much better than the derogatory, overly hyped hiphop that seems to be so prevalent in our culture), Philip Glass, Steven Reich, Jonsi, Sigur Ros, Chinese Music, Indian Music, Classic Rock, Music from the 1920's, and many others.

Movies: Inception, The Exam, Shutter Island, Braveheart, and many others.

Books: Lord of the Rings Trilogy, The Rose and the Entire Series, Harry Potter, Forgetfulness, and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Gotten over my fear of heights.

Teach, Learn, Share

Exactly. Except I feel that it should be Learning that comes before Sharing and Teaching comes after if invited. Sharing and teaching I feel sometimes goes hand in hand as we can learn so much from sharing and taking a moment to really listen to others and their stories/experiences. I like to be real and down to earth and I feel this helps with my learning process. Who knows, maybe one day I will stay at one couch surfer's place and find an inspirational idea for a piece of choreography that may become super well known. Ideas are everywhere.

What I Can Share with Hosts

My experiences, cooking, cleaning, and friendship/keeping connected even after the visit. I also really enjoy going out for coffee, drinks, dinner and getting to know new people. I also understand not everyone is an extrovert and am more than willing to respect people's space and let them come to me when they want or are ready if they are interested in making a connection.
