About Me

Travel is more than the seeing of sights; it is a change that goes on, deep and permanent, in the ideas of living. (Miriam Beard)

A born-and-bred Brooklynite whose heart was softened by four years in New England.

I work at a NYC non-profit as a community organizer, working to create progressive change the old-fashioned grassroots way.

In my offtime, I surround myself with lots of discussion about cities, technology, food, and electronic music.

I make bags for my friends.
I walk everywhere.
I'm sort of a minimalist.

Be good to yourself so you can be good to others.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have a deep love for New York, as the place where I was born, and a place that continues to show me new and transformative ideas, everyday.

I work a lot, but love being low-key, and can show folks around, host, cook, hang out, drink, party with.

I held off on joining CS because I wanted to be able to host as well as surf! Close friends all say amazing things, but I also know that many folks have experienced awkward moments via messages/hosting regarding flirting, dating, other romantic expectations. I love connecting with people, but am here to make friends only :)

I like to have conversations on things I am passionate about and things I know nothing about.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am equally happy

listening to Nina Simone, Villalobos or J Dilla.
reading Kurt Vonnegut, Audre Lorde or Wired magazine.
watching wuxia films or Oz.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was nine years old, I milked my first water buffalo in the South Chinese village that my mother was born in.

In high school, I spent some nights exploring abandoned train tunnels with a close friend.

In 2006, I had an amazing two-hour conversation in the back of a truck in post-Katrina New Orleans.
