About Me

I am an adventurous, retired woman and I love to travel. At the age of 40, I took a leave of absence and traveled with a "round the world" flight with stops all over "Europe, Thailand, India, and parts of Asia carrying a back pack and staying in Youth Hostels. Retired about 8 years ago, I lead a very full life, active in sports, like golf and tennis, and still do lots of travel and enjoy good times with friends. I am part of a couple. My guy is a retired school Principal, and he is very social, loves to travel, and if a whole lot of fun. We are both educated, healthy, happy, and adventurous souls.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have hosted in "Friendship Travel" and enjoy staying in small bed and breakfast establishments where I can meet the locals. I sincerely feel that getting to know and understand a little about the people of a country or simply a city, enriches the travel experience so much. I just heard about couchsurfing, and hope to meet, and host people to my city and find hosts in other parts of the world open to showing and telling me the most interesting place to explore. Being on a limited budget, I am hoping to get to some far away places that would otherwise be out of my reach with the expense of a hotel. I have a beautiful home on the golf course close to Sacramento, our California Capitol, and I want to show off this amazing area from gold mines used by the 49ers to some wonderful wineries, and beautiful hiking trails in Auburn. I can direct travelers to the easiest ways to get to San Francisco and Lake Tahoe. Both are about 2 hours from my home.

Interests

I enjoy playing sports like golf and pickleball, wine tasting, cruising, hiking,
music, dance, and theater. I am a couple, but have many single friends in Meetup, and we often go out to happy hours, or dancing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to books on tape continuously. I love authors like Baldacci and Connolly, Mark Greaney, Lee Child, John Grisham, and Depok Chopra and Louise Hay, and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Probably the most interesting thing I have done was to buy a one way air travel ticket and see the world for 7 months at the age of 45. I carried a pack and stayed in youth hostels with most tourists who were around 25 or 65. Never met anyone my age...they were all working. I did the 7 month trip on less than $7,000 a two month Eurail pass. It was an experience of a life time and I met so many terrific travelers. I stayed in Thailand for 24 days, toured India for a month, spent time in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Greece, Germany, England, Ireland, and Scotland. I also visited Hong Cong and Japan.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a lot about safety, train riding in Europe, share how to find good deals on air and food, and how to get the best rates on travel

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my home, my experiences, and all I have learned from my many travels. I also know a lot about California.
