ABOUT ME

We are an extremely laidback couple from Finland's capital city Helsinki. We have lived the biggest part of our lives (born and raised) in Oulu which is a city in the north of Finland. Maria is 26 and Juho 27. We are lively, extremely reliable and everything but shy (which usually is quite common for Finnish people). We love to travel and exchange experiences with others likeminded! We did a 2-month-trip to USA in the summer of 2009 & 2011. It was awesome! The summer of 2013 we traveled in China and Southeastern Asia & Nepal. Traveling and seeing other countries and cultures (and meeting new people) are probably the best things to do in life, at least according to us.

We love to couchsurf/host and be surrounded by fun people. We are both vegetarians in the sense that we don't eat meat excluding fish. We don't mind other people eating meat but that's just not our cup of tea. :) Maria studies Nordic languages (i.e. Swedish) & English philology and will work as a teacher in the future. Her interests also include music in all its forms and reading lifestyle blogs. Juho's passion is music and in his spare time he plays different instruments and dabbles his fingers in the world of composing. He's also a passionate photographer, he's the one who is in charge when it comes to our holiday pictures :) Luckily!
We love animals, we love good food, we love new adventures and meeting new people.

We think that you only live once and that's why you'd better get (almost) everything out of it! We are very down to earth and are always trying to look at the bright side of life. We respect honesty and people that are genuine. Sense of humor is a must!

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We participate by offering a good & safe place for people who are stopping by in our country. We have tried to couchsurf in the States, but we didn't manage to get any couches to lay our heads on because of our last minute attempts :/

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have multiple times and all of them were extremely positive experiences! Keep it coming! We tried surfing in the States in 2009 & 2011 but it was a bit difficult because we didn't plan so much ahead and therefore it was hard to get any last minute accommodation.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

Maria: Pretty much everything amazing I've seen and done has something to do with traveling. Driving down the west coast for two weeks in the States was pretty awesome! The Great Wall of China, scuba diving... And seeing dolphins, manatees and a shark in the Bahamas and Florida! Yikes!
Juho: The loss of his pinkie as a child.. I'll tell you more when you get here!

We or one of us has "extreme" :) knowledge of: Swedish and Finnish languages, playing drums, photography stuff. And we make pretty good vegetarian burritos! We want to improve our knowledge of different countries, cultures and languages.
