About Me

Hi!

My name is Julian and I am a uni student at Deakin university, Melbourne.

I spend most of my time these days studying but I love getting outdoors (so does my very energetic German shepherd!).

I am a pretty easy going guy and I consider myself clean, respectful and easy going.

My biggest hobby is drumming and I love music in general.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am actually here for a very specific reason!

As part of my degree, I traveled to Tasmania to work for the Australian Antarctic Division in Kingston. I spent 2 weeks working on a project which is aimed at helping expeditioners learn about safety and bio-security.

I have been asked to return and for someone studying environmental science, the opportunity to go back is absolutely amazing.

The last time I went, I spent 2 weeks in a hostel in Hobart and got to meet a lot of people...I really enjoyed it! This time around, I am looking to:

1. Overall, have a new experience
2. Save costs and be closer to work

Interests

-Drumming and music (of course)

-The environment (of course!)

-Kayaking and walking the big fella (my dog otis)

Music, Movies, and Books

-Big fan of Jeff Buckley and Paul Dempsey

-"Cradle to Cradle" was probably one of the more enlightening books I have read

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have skydived 50 times!

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to do garden maintenance for a nice elderly couple nearby. I will admit, I wasn't the best but I am a healthy guy so I didn't mind the grunt work involved.

I'm pretty good with computers/tech/geeky stuff while also being a pretty nifty backyard mechanic (I am a tinkerer at heart).

I am working towards doing my drum exams with the music examination board...one day I would really like to teach drums around my day to day life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am always happy to share a helping hand.

In this case, I will be working during the week while still studying and doing assignments but there are always plenty of indoor things to do around that! The cleaning of dishes, bathrooms, laundry etc I am more than fine with and am used to doing :)

Countries I’ve Visited
