Hello, I am Julia, a recent college graduate who will soon embark on a trip to Spain. I actually have a pretty international upbringing - I used to live in Spain, US (Kentucky), Australia, Hong Kong, and Chile, and attended college in Philadelphia. Because I moved around so much, I love meeting new people and really immersing myself in the native culture. While I do like to party occasionally, I am more on the quiet side. I like sitting down and having conversations with people.

Por qué estoy en Couchsurfing

For now, I am looking to do a month-long trip in Spain. I want this trip to be different from the other trips that Koreans usually like to go on (very guided, heavily scheduled and packed trips). I want to take it slow and do what the locals do, go to the local restaurants and bars, and really take in Spain for what it is. I think the best way to do so would be to meet people living in Spain! I am also looking forward to meeting new people and forging memories :) My dream is to sit outside when the weather is nice with my hosts and talk about everything over a glass of wine and some tapas.

Intereses

Obviously, I love traveling. I love taking walks around the city. I love food!! I love to social dance (merengue, salsa, bachata). I am interested in photography (but not so good at it). And I like dogs.

Música, películas y libros

I listen to all types of music - anything on the top 100 list of any country will do. I do love Enrique Iglesias and Prince Royce. In terms of movies, I like watching a lot of romantic comedies, but blockbusters such as Avengers are also good.

One of the groups I was involved in during college hosted community service opportunities. On one occasion, I visited the Ronald McDonald house and served as a face-painter for an evening for children who were battling cancer. I was able to fully recreate Olaf (the snowman from Frozen) for a little child, and the child was awed at how real it looked. I think that bringing a moment of joy to this child was pretty amazing.

Qué puedo ofrecer a los anfitriones

I used to tutor children English, so if anything I could help with English homework, writing, conversation. I could also help with Korean and share contemporary Korean music (k-pop) and Korean dramas. If anyone has any questions about life in any of the countries, I've lived in, I would also love to share those experiences.
