About Me

I've spent a lifetime chasing stories to tell when I'm old.

Hola, I'm Stig, and I'm from Australia. I live in Thailand when im not wandering around. So barely...Nomad, Wanderer, Soldier, Skydiver, BASE, Wingsuits, Dive Instructor, occasional musician. On rarer occasions, a writer. Who quits writing too easily. Suck at french. Always making stupid decisions. Always attracting a good story.

I live off two backpacks, and been on the road for as long as i can remember. 4 and a half years, when i do remember.

I wander around, skydive and jump off other stuff when i have the cash to, work as a dive instructor when im broke, and do random stuff in between.

Life's short. And i wanna do all i can before i'm 40. And then i wanna be a bartender on some remote island or beach. Me in my shack. Endless sunsets. With a guitar. And a dog.

Or a lion.

(Its probably gonna be a lion.)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

"I'm not me, im a sum of every person I've met in my life."

Im pretty much always on the road. And love meeting new people. And i love travellers, if you know what i mean. But I usually only couchsurf with peeps, when I've stayed for long enough at most backpackers in town.

Been a massive host the past few years, even when I'm not home, and now since I'm on the road I'm busy surfing :)

I do host quite a bit as well lol. But its been a while and changed accounts.

In short, When you're home, Its the best way to travel without travelling, and when travelling, ..well, its the best way to travel.

Interests

Jumping off things, Music, Guitar, running, swimming, reading, watching the stars, diving, skydiving.

I like to read books- always have one on me.

I like movies. And music. Im self taught on the guitar, but love learning new stuff whenever I have a guitar with me.

I absolutely hate running, but i do it quite a bit.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to pick just one thing :) I love doing out of the box stuff, and to be honest, get really bored with everyday life which is why i prefer living on the road. Its so much more colorful. And unpredictable. And so many more like-minded people.

But to name a few:

-BASE Jumps- done a few

-Wingsuits- a few more

- Lots of skydiving

-Visited a lot of dodgy spots

-Camped up on Table Mountain

-Attempted (and failed) to swim from Tarifa to Tangier across the straits of Gibraltar. Shouldnt really count because it was a pathetic attempt.

- Walked the entire coastline of South Africa. 3500km in 100 days. From the Namibian Border to Mozambique. Solo and unsupported.

- Iv met, drank beer, shared plates, and been in the company of legends.

Teach, Learn, Share

-I can give you a guitar crash course.
- Can teach you some basic self defence.
-Can share my travel stories.
-Can make noodles pretty well.
- I can do dishes 💪🏼
- Can do fitness workouts with hosts/surfers.
- I recently acquired an awesome ipod size electric pulse accupressure massage thingee. Its my best investment ever.
- I can cook a mean breakfast. Pretty much the only thing I can cook.
- Anything outdoors, im a decent guy to have around :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

A lot of stories. Plenty of experiences. A few laughs. Some entertainment if you got a guitar. A different perspective on life. A small insight into an alternate lifestyle. Complete freedom is hard, but im on my way there.

I'm flexible with all cultures, creeds, beliefs, quirks, ego's, characters, eccentricities, simply because normal is boring.
