About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Breathe in, see, smell, touch, and taste as much of the world as possible....while meeting amazing people.

ABOUT ME

I am a 20 year old student at Washington University in Saint Louis double majoring in Global Health and Economics. I've always loved exploring new places, taking risks, and challenging myself. I've also always been pretty awkward at talking about myself (clearly I still am). Since talking about myself is an awkward struggle, here's a blurb from a speech my dad wrote about me for my bat mitzvah (when a Jewish girl becomes a woman):

"You come across as a quiet person, but you have your devilish side. You love to engage in almost any activity. You join in, you participate and that is great. And it almost seems that the more dangerous the better, the more fun... Julie like rock climbing - this past summer she went up cathedral ledge near North Conway....just the thought of it turns my stomach-- but Julie says "Cool!!!" Whatever you suggest, Julie says: "Cool". Jumping out of a plane: "Cool", bungy jumping: "Cool"."

PHILOSOPHY

Rely on yourself, but remember that you need others. By this I mean that others shape you; others teach you things you cannot read in books or museums, give you experiences and connections unattainable otherwise, and if you're lucky, others really truly care about you. But live your life. Make your decisions. Follow your heart and chase your dreams. Those that matter will stay by you or help you along the way, and you will stay by them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I hope to surf and also maybe to host!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have no couch surfing experience! One of my good friends is currently traveling around Israel solely by couch surfing and is having a great experience. He highly recommends couch surfing and I want to try it out! Besides being a surfer, I am also interested in potentially hosting people in my apartment in STL if I enjoy my experiences.

Interests

I enjoy running, biking, reading, hiking, skiing, and hanging out with friends. I love meeting new people and talking about pretty much anything!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Summited Mt. Kilimanjaro, Tanzania (although I don't like calling this amazing because almost anyone can do this if they are determined enough!)

Teach, Learn, Share

1 - Drink lots of water! Always! Dehydration and altitude sickness (depending on where you are) are REAL problems and are not fun at all. Also, bodies react differently when in new places, and drinking lots of water helps!

2 - This isn't a technical skill, but is something I want to share because I think is a cool way of looking at traveling. Here's a quote my friend shared with me: "Traveling is the one thing (besides books) that you put money into and yet come out richer". I consider this a skill because so many people can almost waste traveling and not get anything out of it when there's so much to learn, so much to do, and so many people to meet.

Countries I’ve Visited
