About Me

My name's Justin, and I love people!
Wait, lemme back up. I grew up in Michigan, and as such knew very little of the world besides bitter winters and terrible road construction. (Though we have Tim Horton's here, which is nice.) Recently I went to Seattle and loved it. So I'd like to move out there. If you get a message from me that's probably why!

As for my life otherwise, I love to read, play video games, and talk. I love a good discussion. About anything! I love to teach and learn from all the people I've met, and would love to meet more!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, in the practical sense, because I need somewhere to sleep before I find a place to live out West. But I doubt that's the last time I'll use this site. I love to meet new people and experience different lifestyles, and this seems like the perfect place to do it!

Interests

I'm interested in literature, media, culture, and social psychology. I'm no expert by any means. I still have a lot of life to live and a lot to learn.
Otherwise, I like to learn about people's lives. I love hearing about why people do what they do, and about what they've been through. I love to listen!

"Cryptonomicon" by Neal Stephenson
"The Complete Robot" by Isaac Asimov
I could go on, but that's a good selection of the kind of books I like to read.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I first went to Seattle, I sold everything I owned and drove across the country in my crappy car without a place to live or work. I landed and was homeless for almost six months, working at a moving company and living out of my car. It was incredibly stupid and I made a lot of mistakes but I learned a whole lot, and I'll never forget it.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn anything that anyone can teach. From cooking to home improvement to vehicle maintenance - whatever! I have a lot to learn about how the world works and am eager to start.
As for teaching, I don't know a whole lot, but I can teach the basics of computer use, and the use of traditional logic. I also like to help people solve their personal problems by giving advice based on things I've done and have seen other people do in similar situations.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A good laugh, great conversation, and hopefully some good memories. I'm also courteous and well-spoken, so I get along with others very well!
