About Me

Greeting from Amsterdam!
Hey folks! This is Juwon who's currently studying in Holland and I'm 22 y.o girl from Korea.

Ok let's see where to start.. Ah I used to play jazz piano when I was a high school student and also led a band called 'Band03' with my mates. We played in plenty of clubs and pubs and also have awarded several times by small(but really small)festivals. I still have our band's recording file in my google drive so I'd love to listen it with you guys even though it's a bit awkward and shrinking :p

I lived in Australia for one year before I came to Amsterdam and that one year is ranked for the best time in my life. It was the real first time for me to live without what I used to be with such as family, friends, thinking of and from others and you know, almost everything. So during that one year I could fully concentrate on myself. Learned how to travel alone, live on a budget, make a choice without other's opinion and.. Oh gosh. I've learnt too many things from Australia so it's impossible to write them all down.

But the most influential decision I've made in Australia for my life is to study in Holland. That's why I live in Amsterdam at the moment. I always told that Australia makes me learn when I was in there and see? It definitely makes me learn!! :)

*(please kindly note that unfortunately I'm not able to host you guys at the moment. Cuz I just started to live in dorm and I'm not allowed to do so. But I'm always opened to hang out and have fun together! Let's discover this beautiful city together! )

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

There was one old lady in my flight from Melbourne to Hobart and she's the reason why I decided to be on Couchsurfing.

After I worked 6 months in Melbourne, I had to find another job cuz I was not allowed to work more than 6 months under the same boss since I was holding Working Holiday Visa in Australia(if you've been to Australia as a backpacker, you would definitely know it haha)but I couldn't find one easily. So I decided to move to another region in Australia to make a new start.

Then I took a flight to Hobart. I was too nervous about my career and budget while I was flying down to Hobart from Melbourne and I couldn't even sleep whole night so I was almost dead and just looking at the window. Then the old lady who seats next to me started to talk to me. She aksed where I'm from, where I'm heading to and what I am gonna do. So I answered everything and she asked me if I've already booked the bus and I said, no.

Then she said her hubby will come to the airport and they will drop me to at hostel by their car. Wondering if I trusted her and what happened after that? They dropped me in front of my hostel and she gave me her name card. Then said 'call me when you come to Hobart then you can stay with us and we'll spend time together'

People usually say the unexpected relationship and luck make our life more interesting and I've never believed that. But after I met her and her family, yes I had to start believe in that. One day we met again in Hobart and this couple brought me almost everywhere in Hobart and they made me enjoy every bit of their beautiful city. They gave me a room and invited their friends to have dinner together.

And you know what? It was not the first and the last time. They invited me everytime I went to their city and introduced me their family and even their grand daughter who's the sweatiest baby I've ever seen. They said I'm just like their grand daughter and they really took care of me as I was their family. We kept our relationship from my first day in Tasmania to the last day in there. Still hard to believe how could one young girl from abroad which is 17hours far from Australia could be their family.

Oh god I'm almost about to cry :(
I can't imagine how my life in Australia would be remembered without these memories. So I decided to do the same thing that they've done for me to others who might be in the same situation like I was before. And also wanted to keep making this kinda unforgetable memories so wanna meet good people via Couchsufing when I start traveling again.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music
I enjoy almost all kind of music but if I can choose only one, it should be a jazz. I'm a big fan of cool jazz like Duke Jordan and Bill Evans and can't make my Spotify's playlist without Esperanza Spalding. Also listen funk like Jamiroquai. Although love to listen edm, indie and folk too.

Movies
The best is ' spirited away' by Hayao Miyazaki. I already watched it 5 times but can find new beauty, emotion and attraction by every single time when I watch it again and again.
