About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I am starting a business brewing beer, distilling alcohol, and making soda.

ABOUT ME

I am a positive-minded person who likes large groups of people, yet I enjoy intimate conversations with one or a few people. I ride a bicycle instead of driving a car, I love to garden, play cribbage, and learn how to make things from scratch.

PHILOSOPHY

Smile and share with those you meet.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used to live in a community house called The Establishment (it was my home for 11 years!). It is an old hotel that is now home to 19 people with a communal kitchen, den, garden, and 4 bathrooms. Couchsurfers, bike tourists (often through warmshowers.org), old friends, new friends, and anyone with an open mind and a willingness to participate have been hosted as short-term guest (1-2 nights typically) over many years. I now live in Morro Bay and have a spare bedroom with a full-size bed, couch, and plenty of floor space for couchsurfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couchsurfed in London and Amsterdam in late 2006, early 2007. Both experiences were extremely positive. I had a couchsurfing profile with my girlfriend at the time, but we are not together anymore, so I needed to create my own couchsurfing identity.

Interests

I am a nature loving, bicycle riding, beer drinking and brewing fool.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I spent two months at sea on a 500-foot long ship, travelling from California to Mexico, Peru, Chile, and Costa Rica. I learned a little Spanish, swam with hammerhead sharks, visited the home of Pablo Neruda, and saw the ghostly glow of bioluminescence in the ocean surrounding a pod of dolphins swimming in front of our ship.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know lots about biological life, in particular plants.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Spain, United Kingdom
