Overview
About Me
I've only lived in Memphis for a couple of months. It's my first time living in a big city and I'm still getting used to it. I got married in September, and my husband is a full time fitness coach. I was recently hired as a Starbucks barista.
I was always the "go-getter, top of the class, very responsible, get all the right internships" type of girl. I had goals and specific plans for attaining them.
Now that I'm back from backpacking as a missionary and adjusting to married life and city living, I've discovered that I don't really know what I want after all! I was a sociology major and will probably eventually pursue a career in social work or ministry, but for now, I'm just wanting to work in a job I enjoy and pour my heart into enjoying this new season of life and loving the people around me well!
Please note: because I only get my work schedule for the week the Saturday before it begins, I cannot commit to requests that aren't within the week. I am a great resource for last minute one or two night stays, though!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I spent eight months backpacking around the world as a missionary, and I was deeply impacted by the generosity and hospitality I encountered during my travels! I'm eager to "give back", and offer the same welcome I received time and time again. This is my first year in my own home, and I see it as a wonderful opportunity to bless others and make new friends!

Music, Movies, and Books
TV: The Office, White Collar, Friends (all available on DVD to guests!)
Movies: About Time, Pride and Prejudice, The Adventures of Walter Mitty
Books: I'm currently reading anything I can get my hands on by Liane Moriarty after reading The Husband's Secret in a day. I read often but jump around in author and style. I tend to like "easy reads" that are entertaining and unpredictable.
Music: Needtobreathe is my favorite band (and if you bring it up, I'll mention with a smidgeon of pride that I attended their alma mater). I enjoy folky music with lots of instruments, but I'm a far cry from hipster and typically don't know bands exist until they're mainstream.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In Thailand, I worked in a coffee shop in the red light district of Chiang Mai for a month. At night, I either prayed over the city or went out to befriend girls in the bars. One became a close friend, and she taught me more about love in a few weeks than I ever could have imagined.
Teach, Learn, Share
I love writing and blogging. If any travelers are wanting to start a blog to catalog their travels or want help with one they already have, I'd be willing to edit, offer input, etc.
I speak a little Spanish and would like to practice that and improve.
I love cooking but I'm very new at it. I would love to learn how to make new dishes!
Countries I’ve Visited
Bahamas, Cambodia, Dominican Republic, Guatemala, Ireland, Malaysia, Mexico, Nicaragua, Philippines, South Africa, Swaziland, Thailand, United Kingdom, Viet Nam
