Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am certainly new to this concept but not too long ago I started sharing my apartment with guests on Airbnb to help pay my rent and I absolutely loved the experience. After a while I realized the opportunity that I had having an apartment in DTLA, next to Staples, so I started to list it as a private listing to help fuel my dreams of being 100% self employed. To my surprise it has been wildly successful. Unfortunately, this is the first month doing it so financially it has been a challenge. I have been staying in hostels over the city, mostly in hollywood, and have been so fortunate to get to know many different people that I am blessed to call my friends. I am looking to use Couchsurfing as a way to live while getting to know my hosts on a deep level. THAT IS WHAT I MOST DEEPLY DESIRE, IT IS NOT JUST A PLACE TO STAY! Experiences with sharing my studio, and experiences in hostels getting to know others, has led to the next most logical step towards a more fulfilling life.
I am interested in a lot of things but my favorites would probably be:
- Exercise (mostly running and yoga)
- Personal Growth
- Getting to know extremely awesome people
- Showing love to EVERYONE I meet
- Philosophy and the meaning of life
- Travel and getting to know new and interesting people
- New technology
- Becoming a Game Changer
- Finding internal peace through meditation
- Big business and what can be learned
Music, Movies, and Books
Classic rock (Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, Grateful Dead, CCR)
Classical Symphonies ( Beethoven, Bach, Chopin)
Rap/Hip-Hop (Big Sean, Kendrick Lamar, Mac Miller)
Forrest Gump, Inception, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Curious Case of Benjamin Button, The Notebook
Latest book was "The Power of Now"
Favorite book:Typically whatever I am reading at the moment haha
Currently reading: "Abundance: The Future is Brighter Than You Think"
Book I recommend to everyone: "How to Win Friends and Influence People" but starting to think recommending "The Power of Now" would introduce a new way of thinking and would actually be more pivotal. Either way both are great and would recommend both of them
I read mostly business books and self help books, those are my favorite. Occasionally, I will pick up a nice fiction book and knock it out pretty quickly only to find out that the book was more enjoyable than what I normally read.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I mean I think that just being here in the moment is pretty damn amazing since it is such a rare commodity in todays world but lets be real, you probably want a REAL answer. I would say that what I am doing now is pretty amazing and very risky. I have no family here, no friends and I quit my job to do this full time so that I could do that which actually aligns with my values regardless of how HARD it is. Seriously though doing Airbnb is easy, no doubt about it the easiest thing I have ever done for the money! The hard part, however, is at night when I have no place to go, that is the WORK. I am proud of myself for it and would consider it pretty amazing because I am willing to struggle, even though I did not have to, to live a more fulfilling life
Teach, Learn, Share
I am constantly learning information and facts so sometimes they do happen to just randomly come out of my mouth. Aside from worldly knowledge, I like to speak about my own experiences and perceptions that I believe will benefit those around me. I think the most valuable thing I have learned about living (so far) is to watch my thoughts and I mean watching them without judgement. I didn't realize how much of the day was acted out unconsciously. When I started to watch my thoughts I realized how often they went back into the past and also projected into the future. Growing up I believed that the more I identified with these ideas of past and future (AKA what I thought of as the SELF) the more I would see my dreams come to fruition. This is not true. Luckily, I am awaking from that illusion and starting to see how when my thoughts drift into the past or when I start to project into the future, no matter how it starts, they typically lead to negative thoughts or feelings such as fear, anxiety and/or self doubt, after a while. Out of those feelings I lived my life, making important decisions based on my unconscious negative thought patterns. All of my life I didn't realize the source of my unhappiness but by becoming conscious of this tendency to think in terms of past and future I realized what I was missing was embracing this very moment. When you are in the moment, the right now, there is no room for fear or self doubt because the now is too beautiful for all that junk. This way of seeing the world has allowed me to find the path TOWARDS peace and enlightenment. The past and the future in your mind is not real, and by identifying with these thoughts you are giving all your precious energy away from the most important thing, the moment. By living in the moment you are BEING the real you, not your thoughts that tend to be riddled in fear/anxiety (pick your negative emotion) or someone who identifies strongly with their ego. Out of this state of mind comes creativity and love. Don't believe me? I wouldn't either, after all I am just a stranger ;) Normally I would not share this POV but after experiencing how transformative it has been in my life I would be a very selfish person not to. So if you are one of those who people who appreciate this, I appreciate you!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have a lot to offer but the best thing about me is that I like to truly listen to other people and get to know them. I am a great conversationalist who enjoys energizing those that I am around. Im not sure exactly what I can offer but my guests on Airbnb seem to like me so I must be providing something of value!
