To fight for my dreams and happiness - to not let fear manipulate me into living a boring life.

ABOUT ME

I am a 24 year old Ph.D. student at UVA. Basically, I do research in a systems biology lab and also do some TA-ing and mentoring of younger students. I love getting paid to learn - it's such a good deal. According to Meyers Briggs I am ENTP - the "Inventor." Pretty accurate for me.

Common weekend activities for me are: cooking new vegetarian dishes, going to wine tastings/local vineyards, karaoke, fruit picking, exploring used book stores, playing nerdy board games like munchkin, settlers of catan, puerto rico, stratego, or BSG, painting something colorful and abstract, hiking, trying new restaurants, going on group cycling rides, and swing dancing.

PHILOSOPHY

To not take life too seriously - laugh a lot, don't go to sleep angry, and don't take the beauty around me for granted - preserve my 'wonder.'

To live an interesting story - fear is a manipulative emotion that can trick us into living a boring life.

To fight for my dreams and happiness - battle the 'resistance'

I'm new - I'm excited to meet new people and explore new places.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hung out with surfers that my friends have hosted. This has been enough to make me think this is a really cool project that I hope to get more involved with.

Interests

I have tons of interests and hobbies because I love constantly trying new things. Current list includes: road biking, hiking, triathlons (future goal), painting, piano, SCUBA, swing dancing, and blogging.
