Regaining my sense of confidence and balance in life
I'm really easygoing and open minded. I'm a bartender in Boston, so I'm pretty social and good at getting along with everyone. That being said, I'm not much of a party person, and I'm originally from NH, so I'd say a lot of that "I grew up in a rural area" quietness is still something I carry with me too. I'm 27 and recently graduated from school with my BS in chemistry, but due to some rough life things, I'm trying to regain my balance and so that's how the bartending job has come about.
Never let a fear of the unknown stop you from exploring.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm just getting started, so right now, I'm looking for places to go outside of Boston and for people to meet inside of Boston.
I'm totally and completely new to this!
I do volunteer work at the MSPCA mostly with cats, but dogs too. I've got a cat of my own, but I'm a pretty equal-opportunity animal lover. I like to cook, play video games, watch movies, spend time with friends and explore the city when I've got free time. I've been learning how to swim at the gym lately, too.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've been on a scary movie kick lately; there's an old theater nearby that loves to show old horror movies. But I find I'm usually too busy to sit and watch something for long, and music works well for keeping city noises at bay. You'll usually find me listening to alternative, electronic, punk or rock, but I absolutely love live jazz and blues. That being said, I have a very sincere appreciation for music, and I truly enjoy being exposed to new sounds.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
There are two experiences I've had that have truly opened my mind in very different ways: I toured two different animal food processing plants, which is a very rare thing for a member of the public to do. Ever since, I am often heard saying I wish more people could do it and see exactly what their food choices are doing to our animals and our health. The second that I'll never forget was the opportunity I had to see a live open heart surgery. Seeing a doctor hold a beating heart in his hand truly gave me an appreciation for my body as a vessel to protect, nurture, and enjoy to its fullest.
Teach, Learn, Share
It's a little off-the-wall, but I've done a lot of work with public health and food and water safety/security. I could also talk for days about chemistry if I'm given the chance. And I'm great at manicures and nail art, thanks to my goal of never biting my nails again! I'd love to learn more about getting outside though - hiking, camping, gardening, and the like.
