My name is Kate Maslen and I am 18 years old from Australia. I am easy to get along with, love making new friends and have a very confident and bubbly character. I love being outdoors, hiking and yoga. Through my family I have travelled a lot and have come to love embracing new experiences and situations with enthusiasm that may even be out of my comfort zone. Most of all I just like listening to good music, spending time with good people and having fun!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

have recently been accepted into a university in Florence, Italy, and therefore am moving over there in August for the next 4 years. I do not know a single person in Italy, so anyone who has any advice to share with me before I go over would be great. Otherwise, I'd just like to find Florentines who would be happy to meet up with me for a coffee or a beer, and maybe even help me familiarise myself with my new surroundings!

Interests

As I previously mentioned I love spending time outdoors, and particularly enjoy activities like scuba diving, swimming, hiking and walking, yoga, sightseeing- pretty much anything you can do outside! I also enjoy sports, both playing and watching, and will give anything a go. I love to paint and draw, art is a hobby of mine that I have always enjoyed. Like most people I also love being around other people, making new friends and having a good time!

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy most types of music, but I mostly listen to Alternative, Indie, folk, or Blues genres. But when it comes to live music, I love to listen to anything, no matter what it is!
I am currently reading 'Wild' and it has convinced me that I would really love to hike the Pacific Crest Trail one day in America- if anyone is keen, I will need a hiking partner for this!!

Sailed through the Caribbean. It was honestly the most amazing trip I have ever been on, with so much adventure!

-I have Bar skills and Bar licencing (I have completed both practical and theory bar and cocktail courses) and currently work in a pub in Australia
-I speak basic Italian and a bit of German
-I can teach English for foreigners
-I have child minding experience and am great with kids
-I have sailing experience
-I am very creative and enjoy craft and art (art was one of my major subjects at school)
-I have a PADI open water diver certificate
