My mission is to make the world a better place. Mostly I want to take kids outside and show them that the world is a beautiful place. I also just want to meet great people and make new friends.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Last year I took a group of 10 highschool students on an expedition to Maine. We lived and travelled in a bus and learned mostly about leadership along the way. Our second night in Maine we got the opportunity to stay on a secluded nation preserve (an island) that was owned by the Maine Maritime Academy. The island was very small and very beautiful and we were the only human occupants. I got up before sunrise to go for a walk on the pristine pebble lined coast. I emerged from the thickly forested trail and onto the beach just as the sun was rising. The water was still as glass except for the disruption made by a group of seals in the distance and the only sound was that of an osprey nesting about 200 yards away. Overcome with beauty, I picked up a perfectly round stone and skipped it into the ocean. The stone skimmed the surface of the water 6 or 7 times and then split perfectly in two and each half skipped twice more before settling into the water. It was probably the most beautiful experience I have ever had.

I can teach you to: climb (also to set up anchors and to belay); cave (I'll show you the gear you need, how to find caves, and how to be safe in a cave); camp (I'll show you how to set up camp and also the basics of backpacking and navigation). I'm learning how to garden, hunt, gather food in the wild and I would love to learn more about all of these things.
Learning is my favorite!! If there is something you know how to do, I would love for you to show me!!!
