ABOUT ME

I'm a born and bred Canadian Maritimer. AKA I really do apologize a lot, and the cold doesn't bother me. I'm a camper, a writer, a wanderer. A film geek, an aspiring cook, a journalism grad. I like to dabble, and am continuously looking for ways to learn new skills. The youngest of three, an observer, a social introvert. I can be really enthusiastic and comedic, but I'm also very quiet and laid back -- I believe most things are on a spectrum. I believe in God, science and humanity and all of the possibilities this universe can hold; my beliefs are always growing and I absolutely love learning about the way others comprehend and engage with the universe (if they're comfortable having a conversation about it.)

Currently HelpXing my way across Europe, mostly in farms/rural settings. Casual smoker, but happy not to if you maintain a smoke-free environment.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm eager to meet people from other places, backgrounds, cultures and all, and get to know places through locals' eyes. Being away from home, it's always a blessing to be welcomed in someone else's. And of course, share some moments in the kitchen!

兴趣

Reading ficton and nonfiction (and lately, listening to podcasts) about anything under the sun (eco-living, biology, theology/philosophy, history, other cultures, art, film, travel, etc.), hiking, crafts, cooking, cycling, camping, alternative rock, lots of things. Second hand book stores, coffee shops and art galleries are my guilty pleasures, and I'm willing to admit they're cliche. People watching from a good bench.

Music: Everything. But, to name a few of my go-tos: Red Hot Chili Peppers, Dr Dog, Pink Floyd, Alt J, Portugal the Man, The Beatles, The Mamas and the Papas, Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros, Frightened Rabbit, Local Natives, Mother Mother, Purity Ring.

Books: Shantaram, Scar Tissue, Frankenstein, The Silent Takeover, In the Garden of Beasts, Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance, Perks of Being a Wallflower, Down and Out in Paris and London, The Reluctant Fundamentalist, the MaddAdam series, Les Fleurs du Mal, The Edible Woman, The Red Tent, Harry Potter... Books.

Movies: I can't even begin to list titles. I love film. Documentary, drama, adventure, cerebral thrillers, biopics. Movies about struggle, triumph, travel, sadness. Long features, short films, indies and Hollywood. Leo, Linklater, Meryl, Xavier Dolan.

-Spent three glorious months tenting across Canada, including a month of winter camping.

I will gladly cook alongside you in the kitchen, or make you a meal. If you'll make me your favourite dish, I'll happily clean your kitchen afterward.

I'll be as out of your hair as you need me to be, or I will gladly spend afternoons and evenings hearing your stories. What's your flow? That's where I'll go.
