We are two young ladies who are from different countries (Spain and America) and lived in each other's homes when we were 15. We became sisters and best friends and spend a part of every other summer together.

We are both very crafty - Julia paints and makes jewelry and binds books, and I spin yarn and weave rugs and work with brass and do pottery.

We are also both teachers! I teach children about the forest and Julia teaches special needs children as well as leading outdoor and arts camps during the summers.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

We are on couch surfing because we so much prefer the experience of meeting people from the places we are at. We believe it changes the travel from one of being a tourist to have a true and reflective experience of a place.

We also just love to meet all of the world's people and know that local's also know how to direct us to the best ice cream shops!

Interests

We both love nature and being outside, Julia is a champion of swimming in cold water, I love haiku and dance and learning new recipes.

Julia and I both raise chickens and ducks at our respective homes (and countries) and also take care of gardens.

We both like reading, writing, drawing, crafting, laughing, being silly and trying new things.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Recently I biked from Canada to Mexico, twice, with my boyfriend.

Julia is amazing and everything she does can be written in this column. She is just so consistently sweet and curious. I think that is the most amazing thing of all.

Any craft! Basket weaving, knitting, felting, earring making, natural dyeing.... we're crafty chicks and love to share ideas and skills!

We also are each bilingual in Spanish and English.
