Coming to a couch near you soon!
I have traveled all over the world in my (brief!) 23 years, and I have learned a lot from my adventures. In some places, I've absorbed history and culture through museums and ruins. In others, I've learned about the political and historical roots of today's social problems - by volunteering. And yes, on occasion I've learned nothing at all and sipped tropical drinks on the beach! But my constant experience (and lesson) is that the true value of travel is from the people you meet along the way.
But to stay on point and offer you the information you need to know, hereâ
Recognize that while some things are meant to be, most things are in our control!
Care. Do. Reflect.
I aspire to be someone who - were I to meet myself - would be able to be delayed on a plane for 3 hours and not be sorry for the experience.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am planning a 17 day trip to Europe in September and October of this year with another every good friend, and considering surfing couches along the way! I am not yet looking to host surfers, but am always available for coffee and a chat in Chicago, IL (USA).
I’m ashamed to admit I just joined the couch surfing system! Better late to the game than never at all, right? While I have no experience, I have a great attitude and am very excited to give this a try!
Traveling (of course!), cooking, hiking, academics, healthy lifestyle, family, and connecting with people from all walks of life.
Music, Movies, and Books
All sorts of movies - old American classics (Audrey Hepburn and Cary Grant) and new thrillers. I have less time to read these days, but David Sedaris (American Author), my college textbooks on social issues, and (specifically) Muhammad Yunus's book on the Grameen Bank, and Paul Farmer's books (there are several) are my favorites.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Last summer, I climbed up the inside of a strangler fig tree in Costa Rica, overlooking a waterfall - breathtaking!
In college, I volunteerd at a small mission in Guatemala and spent a week learning about the history of the country's (remaining) indigenous population.
Countries I’ve Visited
Austria, Bermuda, China, Costa Rica, France, Germany, Guatemala, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, United Kingdom
