walk, and learn, and learn
Read my palms. You can call me Olga.
I am a flaneur(se).
You can take me almost anywhere. Motorcycling in the desert, eating snakes, going to silent buddhist retreats or pentacostal orations.
Living like a Rothschild on a gypsy's budget (it's all in your head, really)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I am trying to organize some cool unusual tours of Montreal, I am showing the love !
Thinking about life and its meaning.
Walking, biking, running, dancing, discovering new places, train travel when possible; movies in planes; snacks in buses; contemplating, sleeping in incongruous places.
Visual arts; listening to podcasts; graphic novels; photography; drawing invented cities; soviet kitsch; architecture; beautiful light; sensory overloads; philosophy; urban planning, staring at buildings.
Cakes and astronomy.
I like to create funny dance moves. I also like karaoke, quizzes & games.
As any good Canadian, I enjoy walking.
Mystery, mystics, mythologies, history, empires and ephemera.
Music, Movies, and Books
movies: westerns; french movies with long monologues and dialogues (La maman et la putain, Eric Rohmer); italian 60s-70s; american film noir from the 30-40-50s; Japanese about being so Japanese; 1930s-40s comedies (Design for Living); some anime (my fav is Akira); brown spanish speaking movies from the 70s; Bunuel, Almodovar, Days of Heaven
reading: Moravia, Paz, Pessoa, Somerset Maugham, books about architecture and urban planning, Dostoyevsky, Durrell, history books, Le Monde diplomatique, The Economist, travelogues; some comics and graphic novels
music: 60s stuff, psych, classic rock, experimental music, drone, NDW, tropicalia, orkestars, rembetika, punk & post-punk, and other tunes from around the world
I really like to listen to podcasts especially from NPR and BBC
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Motorcycling in the Mexican desert in a short skirt and sandals, and surviving the subsequent sunburns. Blacking out in Mumbai (perhaps not so exceptional). Being at the Hotel Nacional in Habana, and sleeping under the same roof as the Iranian president.
Teach, Learn, Share
Language tips. I can help you with French!
I suppose I can help with photography although I don't know so much about different camera models except my own :)
I do love my city a lot and I always like to learn new stuff about Montreal. I enjoy giving some unusual tours, and I know how to navigate the Montreal underground.
