About Me

explore more and read as much as I possibly can.

I try to always be open and interested. I love to travel and meet new and different people.
I'm currently studying sociology and am fascinated by people and all sorts of different cultures and philosophies. I believe the best way to find out about that really is to explore it yourself!
I am half South African and have a real love for Africa, particularly after spending 6 months back packing across it.

I am because we are - ubuntu.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

Surf whenever I travel, host when I have space/time.

My friend Katie and I couchsurfed through the south of france and had an incredible time meeting the most amazing and generous people. Hosted in Bristol, and met people for coffees/drinks, but want to host as much as I can manage at the moment in London while juggling a masters.
Surfed through Europe when traveling by myself in Amsterdam, Berlin, Prague and Vienna, and with my brother down the east coast of USA. Always had a really great time - you get to know people so much better through CS in such a short space of time and what lovely people are out there :)

I love music, photography, films, traveling, reading, writing, good food, relaxing, swimming, dancing and having long conversations about life and everything.

Music, Movies & Books

I love music from most genres from Jungle to Jazz ,with a hell ova a lotta Hip Hop in between.
My 3 music legends are Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix and Tupac Shakur.
Lately been listening to Fourtet, Alt-J, Lauryn Hill, Mos Def, Sixto Rodriguez, DJ Vadim, Debruit, Hot Water and James Blake a lot. And Dizraeli, he's cool.

Films - Searching for Sugarman, Django Unchanined, Beasts of the Southern Wild, Capote, Shawshank Redemption, La Vie en Rose, Wasteland, Y tu mama tambien, L'Auberge Espangole, Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas, La Haine, Paris Texas, Chocolat, Casablanca, Pulp Fiction, City of God, Spirited Away, What's Easting Gilbert Grape, Save the Last the Dance (guilty pleasure), Fame, The Lion King, Fight Club.. ok there are too many...

Books.. one of my favourites is probably 'To Kill a Mocking Bird' Harper Lee. Love anything by John Steinbeck, George Orwell or Ryszard Kapuściński.
Other favourites include Brave New World, On the Road, The Road, Haruki Murakami, One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Tsotsi, J.M Coetzee, The Catcher in the Rye, Death of a Salesman, Karl Marx, The Color Purple, The Kite Runner, Measure for Measure, Othello, Romeo and Juliet, the Time Travelers Wife and Her Fearful Symmetry, Goodnight Mr Tom, any books by Rahl Dahl and the 'When Hippo was Hairy' Series.. to name a few.

One Amazing Thing I've Done

Teaching in a Malawian primary school to a class of more than a 100 children was pretty amazing. As was sky-diving over Plettenberg Bay at 10000ft and over the victoria falls.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach ...English maybe? tell stories, talk about music. Or if you want to know about sociology. I want to learn things I don't know yet :)
