Hello!

I'm a Biochemistry major at a small liberal arts school in Wisconsin (relatively close to Chicago, Madison, and Milwaukee). I permanently live in Ohio.

I have long enjoyed learning about different languages and cultures. Even though I plan on studying neurology in medical school or neuroscience in graduate school or both, I engage in learning about a variety of topics, including economics, philosophy, politics, history, anthropology, archeology, etc. See "interests" for more information.

I'm Couchsurfing because I believe that humans should be benevolent, curious, and adventurous. When I can, I will host others. Since I'm in college, independent traveling can be difficult with my resources, but my goal is to build connections and work with people to make traveling easier. After all, traveling is a valuable learning experience. I have no need for luxury; I have great need, however, to engage in various cultures across the world.

I believe in a Renaissance education: the sciences and arts are united. While I am interested in neurobiology and neural engineering as far as my career goes, I have interest in the humanities and arts as well, especially with their strong connections to science and engineering. I love studying Greco-Roman art and architecture, Russian art and literature, Chinese health and philosophy, anthropology, archeology, linguistics, dance, East Asian pop culture, global food, and a myriad of other topics. Also, I'm a member of the Interfaith Club at my college and engage myself in learning about various religions, beliefs, and philosophical systems across the world. In particular, I love learning about Buddhist meditation and its healing neurological effects. I hope to do research on this topic in the future, holding Michael Swartz as a particular inspiration of mine.

Two important unifying factors: I love studying evolutionary systems, whether in the context of biology, geology, anthropology, linguistics, technology, psychology. I love analyzing how different types of features branch out to suit the needs of new ecosystems or societies. Another unifying factor in my love of knowledge is the harmony of science and spirituality. The natural and metaphysical worlds are connected in my mind, functioning together.

I enjoy discussions about these topics and am open to rigorous self-evaluation as well.
