About Me

Let me start by saying I have a great life, a job, nice home, car, teeth and hair! A sense of humor. I love my family and I feel it's reciprocated. I like and enjoy the finer things in life, don't sweat all the details and am happy with me.......

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I’ve been an active member of Couchsurfing for the last four years. I’ve couchsurfed as a family and alone. I’ve hosted tons of people and both created and taken part in Couchsurfing meetups in Europe, the United States, Canada, Central and South America. I even partied and peeled potatoes with the Couchsurfing camp at Burning Man.

I feel comfortable rocking up in any city in any country on this planet confident in the fact I’ll be able to find a place to stay, a group for a drink or simply someone to give advice about how to find a bus to the next town.

I’m happy to help you develop the same sort of resource and community in Couchsurfing as well.

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS I love fantasy. I have an amazing ability to completely lose myself in whatever I am reading. I enjoy Nora Roberts, I love Anne Rice, Anne McCaffrey, Stephenie Meyer, Phillip Pullman(The Golden Compass Trilogy), Christopher Paolini (Eragon & Eldest), and just generally anything the involves a mystical plot line. I occasionally read Stephen King when I can get past the first few chapters... his stuff normally starts out sooooo slow....

MOVIES As far as movies go, I generally lean the same direction as books. With the added ingredient of Drama. I love The Illusionist and The Prestige. I enjoy action flicks, Die Hard, Armageddon, The Rock, The Net. I'm not a huge comedy fan... though I will indulge on occasion when there is nothing else to watch and I'm bored. I love cartoons and watch Disney movies faithfully... Bedknobs and Broomsticks is still a favorite. My most recent favorites are The Spiderwick Chronicles and Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium....

MUSIC I am NOT a Christian Music fan and I will not listen to anything I cannot understand due to the amount of screaming involved. I am generally not a huge rap fan either. I enjoy current jazz (Corinne Bailey Rae), Blues/Soul(Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, Fiona Apple, Bill Withers) Alternative(Tori Amos, Flyleaf, Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Nickelback, ) Folk Rock (DMB, K's Choice, Blind Melon, Damien Rice, Jack's Mannequin) Classic Rock (bob marley, Pink Floyd, The Doors, CCR, etc.)Some Metal... Some Country... and what I call chick music... Pink, Joan Osbourne, Tristania, The Veronicas. I also like Opera and Musicals. As you can tell my house is NEVER quiet. I don't operate well without Music.......

FOOD Love Chinese & Japanese, Love Italian, Love good Mexican food(no taco bell please. :-P) I'm generally not picky except that I DO NOT LIKE SEAFOOD. Other than that I am pretty easy going. Let's see... other dislikes... Beans. Curry. Cottage Cheese. Tofu(EWWW). Lentils. Anything with a gritty texture.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My mom said I used to cry a lot, since I was born, I was a crying baby, nothing made me happy, I didn't eat anything, I hated milk. One day (I must be about two) my grandma was having chai and toast, I just tasted it, since then until today I can have this as my breakfast, lunch and dinner. Yes, I'm an ardent chai fan........

Teach, Learn, Share

First, I am super social when I travel. I talk with whomever I'm sitting next to on the bus. I chat with vendors. I banter with people while waiting for a train. I ask for directions even when I'm pretty sure I know where I'm going. The more people you talk to, the more people learn about your journey, the more likely that someone will say, "Hey, if you don't have a place to stay, why don't you stay at my home?.........

What I Can Share with Hosts

It's important that people don't think of couchsurfing as a free roof. Technically, it is; however, the reality is that a guest should always give back economically to the host. If he doesn't, then he's just a leech/freeloader, which is totally uncool. Therefore, it's important that you learn..........
