I am currently a certified teacher in the state of Nevada with a strong desire to travel and take my passion of teaching with me. I am at the perfect time in my life to travel and it's now or never. I am a crazy cat lady (or really crazy for any animals), I love weightlifting/fitness, the great outdoors, reading, dance, and last but not least, wine!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have admired one of my free spirit traveling friends for years now and have always wondered how she was such a wanderer. She referred me to this site and it seems like a fun way to meet people and learn the most about a place. I have been slightly scared about traveling on my own, trying to find housing, etc., and this seems like the best alternative to that frightening experience.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite band is Led Zeppelin and has been probably since I was in the womb. I was raised with a very strong connection to music and especially love Classic Rock, but don't be surprised when you hear other genres of music. Some random things you may hear me listening to depending on the day are: Rebelution, Tribal Seeds, Frank Sinatra, The Rolling Stones, Alison Krauss, Tyga, Wale, Future, In Flames, Deftones, etc., ranging from reggae to metal. As an English teacher, I love to read and my favorite book is "Snow Falling on Cedars" by David Guterson. I have a huge interest in Native American literature, especially anything written by Louise Erdrich. I am also interested in poetry and used to write it myself. As far as movies go, I typically watch them and forget quickly, but my favorite most recently is "Manchester by the Sea".

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I don't feel I've done much that qualifies as "amazing", but I have taught in the public school system in America for two years now. Last year I taught high school and this year I am teaching middle school. Enough said.
