About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see it ALL before I die!

ABOUT ME

Independent, high-school graduate looking for something more than the traditional college education experience right out of high school. I love new experiences, they are practically what fuels my entire life. I am somewhat of an adrenaline-junkie. I love socializing and meeting new people. Hanging out with friends and having a fun night, however it may be. Learning and knowledge are very important to me, I am open to new ideas and willing to have someone show me. I believe in working for what I get and don't mind living without luxury. I neglected going to an all-paid four year Arts school in order to move to rural, upstate New York to experience living on my own and working for rent. I have spent my entire life without these pressures, having been given most of my luxury without any personal cost. I believe that working for this yourself is extremely valuable and fun!

PHILOSOPHY

I try to be as independent as possible and let go of any dependency I may have on others, as I find it makes my life easier. I believe in trying to make every moment count and finding a good experience from all situations. Try, try, try, that's my motto. Do what makes you happy! Also, don't let them bring you down.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None yet, i'm a baby at this, so help!

Interests

I love listening to music, seeing live music, riding my bike, being frugal, and seeing the city! I am extremely adventurous and enjoy spontaneity. I was going to go to school for painting at California College of the Arts, but decided it would be a waste of money and that if I really wanted to paint, I could teach myself (at least, for the time being). My other presiding hobby is writing, which i do only in my free time. I love to travel without a car or getting around with the help of others (I have never owned a car, only a bike, my entire life). But I must say the biggest influence on my life, that has catalyzed my decisions and happiness, has been interacting with other people and learning from them. I love familiarizing myself with new cultures and different people, it must be the most exciting thing in my life.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books-big JD Salinger fan, Fanny And Zooey, Catcher in the Rye. Also Chuck Palahniuk, Howard Zinn, Jon Krakauer, Vladmir Nabokov, Jeffrey Eugenides

Movies: big movie fan! Love old films but Ingmar Bergman (Fanny and Alexander, Persona, Scenes from a Marriage), contemporary filmmaker Michael Haneke (The White Ribbon, Funny Games), Quentin Tarantino (Pulp Fiction, Inglorious Bastards), David Gordon Green (All the Real Girls, George Washington), Michael Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), Wes Anderson (Royal Tenen, Moonrise Kingdom), and MANY others.

Music: (Just to name a few, though it won't even begin to cover it) Neil Young, M. Ward, Bob Dylan, Radiohead, Broken Social Scene, The Antlers, Led Zeppelin, Wilco, Grizzly Bear, Neutral Milk Hotel, Elliott Smith, Talking Heads, The Cure, and anything else, seriously anything anything else.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

One summer my brother, my dad and I went backpacking in Wyoming for a couple weeks. It must've been the most amazing experience I've ever had because nothing has leveled to it thus far. It was mostly the beauty of the mountains that left me awestruck. Contrarily, another moment that has left me awestruck was simply walking up and down Hollywood Blvd at one a.m. in the morning in Los Angeles by myself. It seemed like a foreign country with all the people walking without any awareness of how bizarre they looked to a small-towner like me. Just even witnessing a culture like that-so singularly fast-paced and distracted-was a crazy moment for me. There was so much going on and that's what I loved about it. I want to see more! People interest me!
