Strangers bring new ideas from the outside world. I hope to both bring and receive many such new ideas.
I have a very fulfilling external life - one grandchild and two wonderful children - one a snow-boarder in Whistler, one a surgeon in the U.K. I have a rich inner life - lots of reading, thinking, dreaming. My life is full of grace.
Last two big trips were to New Zealand and South East Asia - mostly Vietnam and Thailand; both with my great couchsurfing pal from NYC. Hopefully, 2017 will be Patagonia and the U.S. Civil War and Civil Rights states . But if Trump is not annihilated in November, will definitely cancel the U.S. trip. Japan and other places are also on the big list.
Now living in London England while I sort out what I want to be when I grow up.
Life is not a dress rehearsal. Make every minute count as if it was the last few minutes of the final act.

Prior to joining CS, my first unofficial CS experience happened in 1970 when I was hitch-hiking through Italy and was picked up by 3 very young priests returning to Rome from some liturgical event. We arrived in the city very late and one of the priests asked if i would like to stay at his parent's home overnight. I gratefully accepted but when we pulled up outside what appeared to be a derelict building, I had second thoughts. But it wasn't a derelict building - it was an 18th century palace. His mother was one of Rome's most senior art historians and his father, one of the city's most famous architects. The home was full of priceless paintings and sculptures. The next day I was treated to a private priest-eye view of the Vatican.
My son lives in Whistler which is a mecca for young snowboard loving travelers. He tells anyone who is passing through Toronto either coming or going to Toronto to "go and stay with my mom. She loves visitors". About three years ago, unbeknownst to me he gave our house key to a group of Kiwis and said - I have an apartment in my mom's house which you are welcome to use on your way through Toronto. He never told me to expect guests and one night at 4 a.m. my house was invaded by 6 travellers from New Zealand. I thought I was being robbed and called the police !!! After all of the explanations had been given, the police retreated and I made breakfast for Jamie's 6 friends. Such a laugh.
Couchsurfing has introduced me to some of the world's best people. Here's to the kindness of strangers, kismet and other forms of magic.
Writing, photography, cycling, learning and travel of course where I can often combine all of my interests.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Nearly been eaten by a lion while on safari at the Timbavati, a private game reserve in the Kruger National Park. I swam in the Nile with a clan of wild Bedouins. Climbed Mount Sinai at sundown. Visited an ancient Parsi graveyard in Delhi. Black water rafting in New Zealand. Everything about Turkey. Went to Obama's inauguration. Arrived in Madrid at the airport exactly at the same time as the Spanish 2010 World Cup winners. Like fireworks going off in a shoebox !!!!! And so much more.
