ABOUT ME

I grew up on the West coast of Canada and have never lived anywhere else--I love it here! That said, I also love to travel and experience different cultures. I'm pretty friendly and I like getting to know new people...even though I may be a bit shy at first. I don't take long to warm up, though, I promise!

PHILOSOPHY

I tend to follow the "golden rule" of doing unto others as I would have them do unto me--not the most creative outlook on life, I suppose, but I do think it leads to a more peaceful existence.

I'm pretty new to the couchsurfing community, so there aren't many experiences to reflect upon thus far...but I hope to change that soon!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have a collection of books numbering in the hundreds: asking me to pick favourites is like asking a mother which child she prefers! That said, I love Shakespeare, T.S. Eliot, Louis MacNiece, Jane Austen, Phillip Pullman, the Brontes, Evelyn Waugh...the list goes on...

I run the gamut on music too. I've been through a lot of different phases. I'm currently listening to quite a bit of folksy pop, but that could change any moment. Given the right mood/mindset I can appreciate (almost) any form of music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

My favourite "amazing" moments are the simple ones. I watched a beautiful sunset with a good friend the other night...the combination was indescribably spectacular.

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can tell you a lot about 20th century German history and the history of Romani people in Western Europe, should you desire to know that. Those topics just happen to be what I focused on during my university career. On a (much) lighter note, I'm a novice knitter and a pretty decent cook.
