About Me

Figure out how to travel the world without working.

I am an artist and wilderness therapy guide. My talent and college degree is in art. My fun and passion is in the wilderness.

Personal philosophies are always changing, but the last several years one thing has stuck with me. I try to live my life as an 80 year old man looking back on his life. What will I remember and be fond of? What will I wish I could have done? What will I look back on and think was important? Rather than waiting until it is too late (at age 80), I try to do everything I possibly can now to live a full, meaningful life that I will be proud of before I die. This keeps me from becoming complacent and letting the years fly by without noticing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am new to and therefore unsure of how I will be able to participate. Because I live in a small house that is crammed with three grown men (and a teenage boy on weekends), I feel that my accommodations would be inadequate for my couch surfing guests. I am also afraid that it would be unfair to my roommates to add another body to the house. If I had a nice large house all to myself, I would love to host others who would be traveling in the area.

I have no experience with, but have heard good things from friends. One of my passions is long distance hiking, so often I am on hikes that take months to complete. During these hikes, I have often met people along the way in towns who have kindly invited me into their homes. These people have offered me showers, laundry services, computer access, food, transportation, and a safe place to sleep. I have always been extremely grateful for the hospitality that has been shown to me over the years on my hikes and travels. I would like to be able to give back however I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can appreciate a movie like "Dumb and Dumber" for what it is just as much as I can appreciate the same for a movie like "The Godfather." I also have the ability to appreciate pop country music in the same way. Same goes for Dan Brown and John Grisham novels.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have walked 2700 miles from Mexico to Canada on foot along the Pacific Crest Trail.
