Research the Austin country music scene & finish my memoir.
I left Texas when I was five years old for a cotton farm in Southeast Missouri, where I lived for three years before moving to Nashvegas, TN. I lived in Nashville with an aunt, who managed Conway Twitty's Record Shop, and an uncle, who sang in a band called Little Dave Farmer & the Cactus Kickers. Yes, he was Little Dave. I left Nashville when I was 23 & lived in North Carolina for over ten years (I received my Masters in English from UNC Charlotte). And, yes, I am THAT old. Currently, I live in Saint Paul, Minnesota, where I attend the University of Minnesota. I am here on fellowship and am working on completing a memoir of my crazy-ass life and how my crazy-ass life has been influenced by country music, which is why I will be traveling to Austin July 5 - 19th. Before I go to Texas, I'll be stopping in Nashville for two weeks, so I'll be on the road for a month. As I am STILL a graduate student, I have no money. Well, virtually no money. I am married without children. I did have an awesome black lab named Chilly Bean, but sadly the very sweet old lady recently went on to play with the giant tennis ball in the sky. So, I can at least travel without feeling too guilty (I'm only leaving the husband behind, and he'll probably enjoy being able to watch ESPN nonstop without any harassment). What else? I love the Dallas Cowboys & even though I love country music and culture, I'm still a liberal democrat. Obama 2012! However, I'm not one of those obnoxious liberals that can't stand to hear anyone else's opinion. I mean how is that being liberal and open-minded, really? In that same vane, I am also a Christian, who takes seriously the whole love and forgiveness stuff. Pretty important, I think. Ok, childhood, education, politics, love, and religion: I hope I covered it all.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I work with a woman in Minneapolis who has forgiven her only son's murderer, and they now live next door to each other and our quite close. Pretty amazing.
