Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in New York City to South American parents. As an adult, I have lived in California, Florida, and Texas. I currently live outside of DC. I hope to see more of the country over the next few years, but only as a visitor.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I am interested in seeing more of the United Stated in particular and the world in general. I hope that couch surfing will allow me to make that happen without going into debt.
I also like the idea of being able to meet interesting people when I am traveling alone. I know that "interesting" will sometimes turnout to be disturbing, but I am optimistic and I expect the pleasant to outweigh the unpleasant. And if nothing else, I'll try to learn from the unpleasant. :-)

Music, Movies, and Books
I mostly listen to various kinds of hip-hop. Lately there has been a lot of jazz infused hip-hop and what I like to call emo-hop: Jaden Smith, Childish Gambino, etc. But I try to find music in any genre that provides a secular and uplifting message. As an example, here's a playlist where the subject and theme of each song is chasing your dreams: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLUhP-dOoEbS-bSXbVSi2y739VyAu-zrJN
I would love help finding songs that inspire persistence.
Whether movies, books or comics, the fiction I consume is mostly action oriented fantasy or sci-fi. I am not an expert on any genre, but I've spent a lot of time over the last two years reading Orson Scott Card, Neal Stevenson and Isaac Asimov. I learn about what is happening in American comics either through the animated versions of stories (DC's work has been amazing) or through watching YouTube channels that summarize the stuff. (Who else learns most things from YouTube.)
