I'm a Canadian who has spent his young life wandering with a purpose. I have travelled to over thirty countries in order to meet the human race personally, to see the world in all its awe and oddity, and to let it change me. I am now pursuing a PhD in Russian history and am currently based out of London, UK.

I have made many good acquaintances through couchsurfing...but strangely, never spent a night in anyone's house, nor hosted anyone from the website. And I have hosted many wonderful people whenever I have had spare room: in my flat in Cairo, or Tianjin...but strangely, these have always been people I have met on the road, never anyone from the website. I guess it's time to break that pattern.

Musica, film e libri

Oh, how do I begin? Nietzsche, Plato, Homer, Steven Pressfield, Dostoevsky, Victor Hugo. I like almost all types of music. I suppose my favourite film is Cloud Atlas, but there are a great many that could compete. Recently I've been getting into Soviet cinema...it's so refreshing to depart from Hollywood's overdone themes and plotlines.

I've ridden the Trans-Siberian railroad; I've snuck into Russia without a visa; I've celebrated Christmas in Bethlehem; I've been to Syria when it was still safe; I've climbed a holy mountain in Sichuan to spend a night in a Buddhist monastery; I've been interrogated by Hezbollah in Beiruit (I DON'T recommend it, PS); I've cycled across Germany; I've climbed pyramids in Egypt and Central America; I've watched a Voodoo ceremony in West Africa...

Cosa posso offrire ai padroni di casa

I can cook like a hot damn! At least some kinds of food...I am gluten free, but it's an intolerance, not an allergy, so it's generally never a problem. But I suppose the best thing I can share is my stories, and good old light-hearted company.
