Currently living in Chelsea, in Melbourne's south east. Come on down for a visit!
Calm, sarcastic, teacher-of-sorts, music hack, traveler, friend, beekeeper, respectful. Lover of frisbees, tea, coffee, beer, wine, bacon, chocolate, outdoors, water, hitchhiking, Finnish summer cottages, a good view, life, canoeing, people et.al.
I have a strange obsession with abandoned buildings, airplanes and finding different ways of using a frisbee.
Something you should know before you request a couch - I am currently working through some demons, namely depression. I'm not psycho and I'm not going to be crying all the time, but my mood may change for no good reason and I'm likely to come across as a little subdued. I may just need a cup of tea, some quiet time or a hug, or any combination of these. Having couchsurfers around is a great thing for me and it tends to lift my mood exponentially, just let me know in your request that this is OK. Don't let this put you off, I really am a nice person.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By offering what I have and appreciating what is offered.
In 6 months of travelling last year I was lucky enough to experience the couchsurfing way of life and meet some of the world's best people. Get me started on the stories only if you have a few hours spare.
Started paying this forward by hosting people back in Melbourne when I could and sometimes in creative ways. When a couch wasn't available, people slept in my car! And my family hosted a backpackers christmas 2012 organised through couchsurfing.
Life is better if things are shared! I like learning from people. I like teaching people. I like music, sub cultures, frisbee, people who will throw a frisbee back to me, growing food, living simply, making things for people, oxford commas, and feeling connected.
Music, Movies, and Books
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Bran Nue Dae, The Dish.
Darren Hanlon, David Dondero, The Waifs, Josh Pyke, Angus and Julia Stone.
The White Earth (Andrew McGhan), Cloud Atlas, anything by Douglas Adams.
Want to know some obscure Australian movies and music? I'm your man!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Going on a pre-dawn paddle on Victoria's gippsland lakes and experiencing sunrise on the water, and sharing the experience with a very cool bunch of young people (there's a photo of it!)
Being in charge of an Island camp for a week this summer.
Midnight sun in Finland.
Seeing my friend propose to his girlfriend of 10 years on stage at a rock concert, and flying 23 hours for the privelege. I'm the best man in January.
More, but perhaps over a coffee/tea/beer.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to make a cake from scratch in less than 10 minutes. Ask me how!
I can also paddle a canoe, throw a frisbee, plant and grow vegetables, wash dishes, cook food to varying degrees of success, make and drink coffee, poach eggs and read maps.
