*I'm coming to PERTH in mid January*
I probably have a terrible response rate because I don't respond to cut/paste requests. C'mon folks, get creative!
I'm a beekeeping, wool-spinning, wood-working, rubbish collecting, hitch-hiking, couchsurfing, reusing, frisbee throwing Park Ranger based in Melbourne's south east, with a penchant for meeting the great people of this world, however weird and wonderful.
My girlfriend is a travel agent so I'm steadily balancing my hosting and surfing roles.
Would love to meet travelers passing through this fine city and be able to show you some sights in my spare time. Drop me a line if you want to meet a genuine Melbourne local.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By offering what I have and appreciating what is offered.
In 12 month of travelling in 2012-13 I was lucky enough to experience the couchsurfing way of life and meet some of the world's best people. Get me started on the stories only if you have a few hours spare.
I started paying this forward by hosting people back in Melbourne when I could and sometimes in creative ways. When a couch wasn't available, people slept in my car! And my family hosted a backpackers christmas 2012-16 organised through couchsurfing.
Life is better if things are shared! I like learning from people. I like teaching people. I like music, sub cultures, frisbee, people who will throw a frisbee back to me, growing food, living simply, making things for people, oxford commas, and feeling connected.
Music, Movies, and Books
Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure, Bran Nue Dae, The Dish.
Darren Hanlon, David Dondero, The Waifs, Josh Pyke, Angus and Julia Stone.
The White Earth (Andrew McGhan), Cloud Atlas, anything by Douglas Adams.
Want to know some obscure Australian movies and music? I'm your man!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Going on a pre-dawn paddle on Victoria's gippsland lakes and experiencing sunrise on the water, and sharing the experience with a very cool bunch of young people (there's a photo of it!)
Being in charge of an Island camp for a week this summer.
Midnight sun in Finland.
Seeing my friend propose to his girlfriend of 10 years on stage at a rock concert, and flying 23 hours for the privelege. I'm the best man in January.
More, but perhaps over a coffee/tea/beer.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can teach you to make a cake from scratch in less than 10 minutes. Ask me how!
I can also paddle a canoe, throw a frisbee, plant and grow vegetables, wash dishes, cook food to varying degrees of success, make and drink coffee, poach eggs, keep bees, build things out of those old wooden pallets that are often discarded, stand up for the rights of oxford commas, and read maps.
What I Can Share with Hosts
A casual chat over a delicious beer. Hugs. Friendliness and reciprocating couch surfing experience. Plus anything that I can do, think, fix, cook, make or remember.
