at the moment, we're not yet offering a couch because we'd like to get to know how this system works better first. so far, i think i'm gonna like it!

Music, Movies, and Books

she's so lovely, the thomas crown affair, wicker park, amelie, nobody's fool, beautiful girls, some kind of wonderful, untamed heart, 21 grams, mary poppins. there are few movies i'd like to see over again. these are some.

the strokes, morrissey, ra ra riot, matt and kim, the black keys, regina spektor, simon and garfunkel, andrew bird, m. ward, conor oberst , bright eyes, weezer, built to spill, modest mouse, vampire weekend, cake, cat power, coconut records, the cure, decemberists. i should stop now, though i'm nowhere near done. my 11 yr old loves green day and the white stripes. my 13 yr old loves movie scores and attempts to learn every one on the piano after he views a film he likes.

Books! i'll pretty much read anything. i like fiction, philosophy, biographical stuff, romance, vampires, historical. i get most of my books given to me from friends, or i find them at thrift stores/garage sales. i have a list with me at all times of current titles i'd like to find. occasionally, i splurge and get something new off amazon. most recently, Meditation as Contemplative Inquiry by Arthur Zajonc. SO GOOD. but i like to mix something light in with the heavy stuff- say, Vampire Diaries or a Sookie Stackhouse novel. *wink, wink* My big boys would love to talk to you about comic books- Calvin and Hobbes, Spiderman, Asterix, Archie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I brought four children into this world. really? what can be more amazing than that???? I don't travel. yet. I love my city. mostly, I'm a mama and i take care of my family. I'd love to teach them that life is not what you see on television ( even though we don't have one. ) or in popular movies. There is a different existence than leaving your family every day to work for someone else, sending your children off to an institution of education all day long and coming back in the evenings only to rest up to do it again the next morn. I want them to see other possibilities. I want them to meet you and hear your stories. Or in the very least, I want them to just SEE you doing something different than what they've been taught is normal by popular culture.

I can teach you how to knit! I'm a knitting instructor in Austin- have been for many years.

And hey, can you play ukulele? because i have one and i'd really like to learn some songs on it.
