About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To find a job so I can get my own place and start hosting/traveling again :D

ABOUT ME

Hey couch surfers!

My name is Kirsten and I live in Washington, DC. I love meeting new people and experiencing new cultures. I like to go out with my friends. I'm very easy to get along with and I don't like to take life too seriously. I try to appreciate everything I'm lucky enough to get to do and I like to see more than just the typical tourist attractions when I visit new places. I like to really get to know people and try to understand our differences. Traveling has made me realize that we're not all so different and you can make connections with anyone in the world. We're all human after all :)

PHILOSOPHY

It's really easy to get caught up in the day to day stress that comes with life but I try to step back and remember how amazing everything is and make the absolute most out of our short time here.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I couch surfed quite a few times while I was studying abroad in the Netherlands and now that I'm back and settled in DC I want to start to return the favor to the couch surfing community.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I couch surfed on my own in Bratislava and Prague and with a friend in several cities in Italy. All of my experiences have been amazing and I am so grateful for the hospitality I received from my hosts.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm open to all types of movies, music and books as long as it's obvious the artist/author/director/actors put real thought and effort into the end product. I love how these mediums can help me think in new ways and see the world from different perspectives. I also love music you can dance to that's not just crappy pop.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing thing I've done was when I was almost completely alone exploring the 1400 year old ruins of a Mayan city in the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico. It was so well preserved in the middle of the jungle and it felt like I was a part of the past. I'm kind of a history nerd and I love it when I can really feel what other times and places would have been like. I loved the freedom of not having the illusion spoiled by other tourists and being able to climb the pyramids and go inside all the old buildings.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always happy to share what I know, whether it be a lot or a little
