About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Carpe diem, carpe noctem, carpe vitam.

ABOUT ME

The first thing that comes to mind when attempting to describe myself is that I have a hard time staying put in one place for very long. After stints in northern and southern California, New York City, a bunch of cities throughout Switzerland, a few years in Berlin, and 4 years in Nice, I have settled in a little village in France just outside of Geneva. Well, for now anyway...

I am an (overly?) energetic self-professed nerd. I think of myself as rather easy-going, open-minded, voraciously inquisitive and down-to-earth. Everything is relative however so feel free to draw your own conclusions.

I usually have a lot going on but that doesn't stop me from meeting interesting, like-minded people whenever the opportunity presents itself. I often find myself talking to strangers just to see what they have to say. I generally like hanging out in more relaxed settings so if clubbing and screaming over loud music is your thing, I probably won't be of much interest to you.

PHILOSOPHY

I'll try (just about) anything once.

Interests

Languages, art & antiques, music & concerts, good food, wine & beer, PC/video games, reading & writing, paleontology, archaeology, marine biology, traveling, everything related to nature (i.e. camping, hiking, fishing), history, billiards, architecture, geeking out in any number of ways...just to name a few.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: I'm a huge heavy metal and classic rock fan (Iron Maiden, Pink Floyd, Soilwork, etc.) but my appreciation for music is quite eclectic and far-ranging and consequently tends to include a bit of everything (including opera, which I used to sing back in the day...and actually still do sometimes when I assume no one is listening ;-))

MOVIES: I tend to watch more documentaries than anything but my all-time favorite movies include Big Fish, Goodbye Lenin!, The Goonies, Labyrinth, Kung Fu Hustle, Inglourious Basterds, and Shaun of the Dead

SHOWS: Dexter, Modern Family, The Daily Show, Top Chef, Mad Men, South Park

BOOKS: Don't even get me started here. Having worked with words for a living for so many years, I have the tendency to over-analyze authors' choice of language, grammar, orthography, etc. Consequently, I tend to stick to non-fiction these days. I'm currently reading "The $12 Million Stuffed Shark" and loving it (albeit becoming ever more disillusioned with the contemporary art world...)
