About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To follow my nose, and see where it takes me

ABOUT ME

I'm pretty chilled out, and get along with anyone. I'm happy to have a lazy night in or to do something crazy and spontaneous. I'm 21, and have just finished a degree in zoology. I'm excited about taking a break from study to travel and be free!!

PHILOSOPHY

We can do all the things we dream of, if we just take the risk to go out and do it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently, I'm living with my parents for a couple of months, while I save up to travel. We live on the Otago Peninsula, quite close to a lot of beaches with seals, sealions and penguins, as well as the Albatross colony at Taiaroa head. Our house isn't exactly flash, but it's comfortable. We have a friendly border collie, a cat and a bird (and sometimes my brother, when he comes home!).

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I'm new to couchsurfing. I always thought the best way to travel is to stay with the locals and get to see life from their perspective. I'd happily host couchsurfers, as long as they don't mind sharing the house with my parents (I'm trying to save money for travel!!). They're alright though :)

Interests

My interests are pretty random, but here is a list of a few of my favourite things:
-Animals. I have a degree in zoology and plan to study to be a vet.
-Outdoors. I love being outdoors, whether it is adventuring, tramping, surfing or just sitting admiring the view.
-Sport. I really can't sit still for very long. I've played hockey for ever, as well as mountian running, biking, skiing...
-Music. One of the most satisfying things in life is listening to good live music, or making a discovery of an up and coming artist. I also play the flute and sax (reasonably well) and guitar and piano (pretty badly!).
-Fashion. I really love to find a way to look good ethically, and without wasting money. Second hand shops are the best place to find a bargain!
-Travel. This is why I signed up for couch surfing!

Music, Movies, and Books

Forever a Harry Potter geek! The books I read can vary from the classics, right through to trashy girly books. Same goes for movies. Usually I enjoy watching foreign/festival type films (they're always unique and usually and don't just follow the same old formula), and other times, I'm quite happy watching something straight out of Hollywood.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wading through an icy cold lake in semi-darkness and torrential rain to set up camp in a swamp and battle through a night of gale force winds and rain atop a mountain, only to wake the next morning to total serenity and magical blue skies. Made it all worthwhile!

Sitting in a German Christmas market, drinking gluhwein under the amazing lights, when the day before, I'd been getting sunburnt on the beach at home halfway around the world.

Teach, Learn, Share

Share - the highlights of the Otago Peninsula from a local's perspective. I know it sounds cheesy, but I'd like to share a bit of good old Kiwi hospitality!

To hosts - I can teach you about my home and culture. I can cook for you and be so tidy you won't even know I've been there!
