About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To sing, stomp, and clap with people all over this small planet, plus I'm always on the hunt for a good curry.

ABOUT ME

I'm currently booking house concerts through Couch Surfing, looking for receptive people to stage a small amount of sonic magic in their homes. I perform under the name FIELD STUDY, and you can listen here:
http://www.fieldstudymusic.com
I like quiet things, except when I like loud things. I like lively conversation, except when I'm enjoying just shutting up and listening. I crave the perfection of old-growth rain forests, except when I'm digging the buzzing cities of the world. I like writing, and reading what others have written; making all manner of sound and music, and enjoying the sounds of others. I also like sleeping in, swimming naked in lakes, and spicy food.

PHILOSOPHY

Be kind.

Why I'm on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The lovely give and take with this mysterious universe of traveling (other's hospitality) and staying home (offering my hospitality). So much to learn!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I tour frequently with my band and we see our fair share of couches (and floors and vans and tents). I feel so very honoured and lucky each time we are let into someone's home. It is this joy of sharing that prompts me to open my house to others any chance I get. Even smelly rock musicians. Oh, but I should mention that as musicians go I'm said to be quite clean and presentable, in case you were worried.

Interests

Released a new album, Field Study - FEVERLAND, on Nine Mile Records. Now I howl these songs into the ether!

Music, Movies & Books

I quite enjoyed Persepolis, oh and the Wire. Brilliant.
Sufjan Stevens and Trauma Farm (it reminded me of growing up on a small farm)

One Amazing Thing I've Done

A song I wrote, called "Thieves of Memory", won the International Songwriting Competition for 2005. You can hear the song at www.parloursteps.com

Teach, Learn, Share

Audio engineering, making records, killer curry recipes.
