About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring the world while volunteering

ABOUT ME

I have traveled extensively, volunteered in many places, love to immerse myself in the culture of the places I go. Love to meet the locals. I am adventurous, flexible and very curious. I have volunteered as an educational consultant in Burma for 10 weeks, at a Cambodian orphanage for a month, and twice to a rural women's college in Honduras to teach math and science to an amazing group of women. I recently volunteered in Lautoka, Fiji helping disadvantaged young women and single mothers benefit from government programs that will enable them to work and become independent. I spent the last year traveling and volunteering in South America.

PHILOSOPHY

Life goes by fast - use every moment as best you can, keep learning every day, pay-it-forward. Never become complacent.

Music, Movies, and Books

These change as new things appear and my memory gets worse. I love classical music, jazz....most music really. I read WIRED magazine and Scientific American. I get very absorbed in books to the extent of being anti-social so I am mindful of reading long things. Movies - just saw A Theory of Everything - the life of Stephen Hawking - an amazing acting feat. Enjoyed 'Her', 'The Hundred Foot Journey' and many others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Wow, it's hard to choose. A manta ray night dive in Hawaii, a jungle hike in Malaysia with a conservationist, Jerusalem in it's entire complexity (socially, culturally, religion), Siem Reap with a local friend on motorbike down the sandy back roads through hidden villages.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you simple macrame and in no time you will have a bracelet to remember our meeting each other. Of course, I love math, so if you want math - well, anytime !!
