Traveling through the States.
I'm really into music, and visual art.
"We live in a world of media overload, and data smog, where everything distracts us from something else. Yet underlying this noisy assault, our culture offers us nothing transcendent. No deeper meaning, and no abiding hope. In my crisis, every facet of the contemporary world seems part of a diabolical mechanism carefully designed to keep people from wondering about the real purpose of their endless frantic activity.
"Why should we have a poetry and philosophy of insight, and not of tradition, and a religion by revelation to us, and not the history of theirs?" That's what i demand. An original relation to the universe. Nothing abstract, secondhand, or second-rate. No history of somebody else's transcendence. Why should not i also enjoy it? Why does it seem like such an impossible goal?
I feel as if i'm becoming a disembodied survivor from some distant epoch. I realize that if this monotonous materialist culture is "the end of history," as some writers proclaim--without spiritual reality, without access to any other level of meaning- then life for me is almost intolerable."
